Hi all,

We just laid our first laminate floor in three rooms using Kaindl One 8.0. It's got a V-groove on it which appears to be unsealed. It is just a chamfer back to the underlying board material.

As such, I am worried about water resistance, and wondered what people's advice would be regarding either waterproofing the groove or making it more water resistant.

I had an idea of getting some beeswax sticks or similar and simply running wax into each groove.

Any advice, opinions, guidance or recommendations would be gratefully received.

Cheers!

I've not used the Kaindl range of laminate flooring before, but the ones that I've fitted which have the V-groove feature already have a wax seal on them.

x2

We have sold/fitted hundreds of meters of Pergo and never had issues with V-grooves.

i was worried about the same thing so searched and found a range that has the foil wrapped onto the V and onto the abutting edges I'm still worried about moisture resistance though- but thats just me ;-D.
I spent months deciding on what i used as its my home and I'll see it everyday.
went for balterio sapphire in the end and I'm very happy. and it looks like real wood till your close enough to see your breath on it lol

I recently installed a Dream Home floor of Koa wood with V-groove. I also have a little dog that occasionally has "accidents". I have now found that when he goes, if I don't see him do it and mop it up, the floor swells around the grooves. Now I have doggy pee in the grooves and he will now smell it and pee there again. I need help. How can I seal this up and not ruin my floor?

But I really need some help. I love my new floor and I love my dog. I am trying to corral the dog and I really don't want to have to spend several thousand again to get ANOTHER new floor.

I am looking for something like a wax or sealer that I can apply with a brush. I am not against crawling on my hands and knees to apply the stuff with a tiny brush. I just need to know what I can use that won't damage the floor and will do the job.

Depending on the range and manufacturer, alot of good quality laminate floors will be pre-waxed at the factory thus making them water resistant already in the V area.
