I notice a vacuum port on my burner oil pump. I have a pressure gauge and run my pump at 10 bar. I have never used the vacuum port because I do not know its purpose.
I would like to know what a vacuum gauge records and what reading would be considered normal.
Would a vacuum gauge also show a problem ie. poor oil line flow (possibly caused by a blocked filter etc.)?
I would be grateful for any information. Thanks

You can use the vacuum port to check whether the oil line is sound as this is the suction side of the pump. You would probably not get a reading, or a slow falling reading if the oil supply pipe had any leaks in it
