VADO tap cartridge

I have a 3 year old VADO Elements basin mixer tap that requires a new C-206-LTC cartridge. This doesn't seem to be a reasonable life?

A universal cartridge is approx. £7.00 but a VADO cartridge is £20.00 plus postage. Both cartridges are of similar construction and profile so how can their costs differ so much?

Is there a cheaper alternative to the OEM cartridge?

Depends why it failed.
If it just wore out or failed due to to internal defect, then that is poor.
If it failed due to dirt or other rubbish in the water supply getting into the cartridge, then that could happen at any time.

As for the price - same as anything else. Some items have a higher price, which may reflect higher quality. Or not.
In any event, £20 and 5 minutes of time to fit it is hardly a massive expense.
