I have an old Vaillant bolier [about 15 yrs old] that has until today been reliable and trouble free. This morning the radiators get very very hot, I turned the boiler off at the timer but now it won't start.I've checked fuses and the wired in the timer but all seem ok.The pilot light is on but it won't fire up either with the timer or by turning on hot water taps.Any ideas?
Cheers Pete

What model of Vaillant? VCW 242? Have you read the fault finding section of the manual? What does it say?

Thanks for the reply. The boiler is a VCW T3W, I don't have a manual only a leaflet with diagrams identifying the various parts.

I have a pdf of the service and maintenance intructions - there is an overheat cutout device which may have tripped. Unfortunately I can't see anywhere in the 131 pages where it says where the reset button is located.
Look for small sticky-out bits on sides /tops /bottoms of boxy bits which look as though they have something important inside... and press them all.

Thanks, I've had a good look but can't see anything that looks like a re-set button.Things must have got very hot in there though as I can still smell burning and it's not worked since early this morning.
The pilot light has now gone out and the ignition switch isn't working either !
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply ! Pete

where the reset button is located.
It's a black rubber button on the right side of the control box towards the back, difficult to see but poke your finger down between control box and pump.
