Vaillant Combi Boiler problem

Yesterday the boiler started firing up (hot water setting only) every minute or so and the pump seems to be running continuously. The hot water is extremely hot as soon as you turn on the tap.

Also, the c/h does not appear to come on when the switch is pressed to the hot water-c/h selection.

I'm going to get a plumber to come and look at it 'cos I don't fancy messing with the boiler but anyone have any ideas if this is going to be an easy (+ therefore inexpensive) job.

WHICH combi!!

WOuld that be a Turbomax 242 or 282?
Sounds like the diverter valve's stuck in the "water on" position. Could be just the switch (they can get wet for various reasons), or the shaft stuck - others are motor driven.
