Over the past few days our boiler has developed a fault. Not sure exact model as I'm at work and only just found this site. I do know it's a vaillant type vp5-ze model if that's any help.
The problem:-
Hot water works fine but the central heating does not work. The pump seems to be constantly on. My partner has removed the cover today and the spindle inside appears to be spinning ok as she accidentally knocked the power switch on. I have noticed that the pump does get very hot and so only turn the power on when hot water is needed. If the impeller has come away from the spindle could that cause it to get hot and the rads not to heat up?
