can be caused by agressive chemicals in heating system and/or excessive pressure if boiler overpressurised by consumer
 
Isn't it common to test these things in excess of 6 even 10bar?

They probably do withstand that pressure when new!

Hoewever the manufacturers probably dont test them above the PRV set pressure.

Add a couple of years of vibration flexing and they split!

Its quite a common problem!

Like dangermouse, I've seen them weep at the joints when over pressurised.

Hopefully Vaillant have improved the QA on this part.

the new hoses have a white stripe down the side of them and are doubly reinforced and strenghtened. ;)
 
I always think that motor hoses are subjected to far more vibration and higher temps but very rarely fail nowadays.

It seems to be a component which is very reliable in cars but still causes problems in a less demanding application like a boiler!
