I have the eco-tec pro 28 boiler.
I have a few issues which I am hoping someone here can either verify as abnormal, or have the same and are willing to put up with.

Do you:
1) Have a rattling noise when full flow DHW is called. (I have verified with an engineer it is the aqua sensor "water wheel")

2) When the boiler switches from DHW to CH does the diverter valve sound like its being scraped across the pipes?

Any replies welcome in my battle with vaillant to admit it shouldn't do this for the price.

I dont think I would want to risk losing my goodwill with Vaillant over your apparent arguments whereby you seem to think that boilers should operate totally silently.

Do you complain to BMW when your seat belts make a click-clunk noise?

Tony

Rattling and scraping are a bit different though. It's not like he bought a squealing Biasi.. ;)

The diverter valve motor makes the typical noise of a stepper motor operating.

The water flow sensor never seems very noisy to me, just a slight rattling, I have to listen very carefully to hear it.

I am sure that if these parts are more noisy that usual then the makers will replace them under the warranty.

Remember the Vaillant is a pretty ordinary boiler, nothing special about it, just a typical mass produced domestic unit.

Thanks for the replies.
The diverter valve is more of a problem as it sounds like it needs a good oil.
I haven't got that much faith in vaillant as the timer unit has gone yellow.
The engineer came with 4 new aqua sensors all of which made the rattling.
Came back another time with an analogue timer replacement instead of our digital one, then said he'd fit a wireless one in for the trouble.
I read the tec specs, wireless doesn't work with our boiler.
What a muppet!

I cannot see any reason why a wireless thermostat cannot be used with ANY boiler if its a low voltage unit and correctly connected.

Perhaps Vaillant mean THEIR wireless stat will not suit?

Tony

Nope, as mentioned it says in the specs
"Designed for use with all current Vaillant combination boilers (except ecoTEC), the VRT 340f thermostat is supplied with a small plug-in receiver unit, which fits neatly into the boiler fascia, with no wiring necessary. The thermostat remotely controls the boiler according to the desired end user programme via radio link."

...which is what Tony said.

Use somebody else's radio programmable thermostat. Honeywell, Drayton, Danfoss etc

I think you've missed the point.
I'm not going to fit anything, Vaillant are.
Read the post, the engineer's totally unaware of what he can and can't use on his own companies products.
I smell a rat!

Thanks to all who have replied regarding the noises, i will persevere with those nuggets at vaillant.
