And also that its an 830. A combi boiler.
 
Thanks for the explanation about the difference between cylinder and combi water temperatures.

It's been a while since my last post.

The hot water works OK when the central heating is on.

When it is off, demand from any tap in the house causes the boiler to fire up for a few seconds then die.

I had a similar problem with the Halstead Finest Gold that this boiler replaced. That was due to a faulty thermistor. I had to replace it almost every year.

This is a control problem on a brand new boiler.

Any further ideas appreciated.

I am the installer. I am not a professional but have installed several CH systems and maintained them for 30 years.
I will understand if the experts here might not want to help me though.
This boiler was installed in December but has had a hot water problem from the outset.

Yes. I installed the boiler according to the instruction manual. CH works fine. HW is only reliable when CH is on.
