Hi, I had the small black hose split on me this week (the reinforced one that was put in to minimise vibration- approx 5-6 inches long and 1 inch outside diameter) apologies I'm not very tekkie. I had an engineer to replace this and at the same time asked him to do a service which he did. before he left he couldn't get the hot water to fire up i.e. the boiler kicks in for about 1 minute at high speed then swithces off - he said that I'd have a small amount of hot water from the heat exchanger and then it goes luke warm. The night before everything was fine with heating and water other than the split hose pipe. the engineer on leaving suggested I need a new pump as it wasn't putting enough presuure through the system to fire the boiler? the heating by the way works fine other than during the night even when it's switched off the bolier is actually firing up (albeit low flame) and the radiators are warm all night?

By the way there wasn't a huge amount of water spilt when the pipe split so there wasn't any real water damage.

Apologies for the lengthy description but I'm really peeved with the engineer as I'm now far worse off than before - I only needed the small hose changed - I really don't want the same engineer back.

Any advice or ideas from the forum would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much for any help - Embee1.

It only takes a tiny amount of water to cause a problem with electronic circuits.

Its possible your diverter valve has chosen that moment to fail but without being in front of the boiler it is not possible to guess at whats still wrong.

The usual thing to do would be to call the engineer back. These are common boilers and he should have no problem sorting it out if he is reasonably competent.
