Vaillant EcoPlus not firing

I have a Vaillant Eco Plus combi boiler. I noticed the heating was off so checked it. Displaying code F28- ? to do with ignition.
I noticed that the white plastic pipe going out my loft was frozen. I unblocked this as it was totally frozen up.
When I try to light the boiler now it goes through start up and fires briefly for a few seconds. It does this 4 or 5 times then shuts down and gives code F28 on display.
Anything I can do, or engineer needed?

I think the condensate drain or probably the trap is still frozen up.

A fan heater directed towards the bottom of the boiler should thaw it out in an hour or so.

Unless the temp outside rises it will probably freeze up again.

I have lit a fire under it as we speak....well not literally
When I disconnected the pipe to unblock the ice, a lot of water drained out of boiler... significant?

Still no joy.............I can hear the electrode sparking but no combustion at all.

I guess engineer needed now. British Gas fixed price option a good idea? £168 seems fairly reasonable.....do people agree?

I still think a fan heater for an hour or two will get it working.

Its not likely to be anything significant. We charge £94 diagnostic fee in our local area during this cold weather but come same day usually. BG seem to be taking about 4-5 days at the moment.

A good local independent should be far cheaper than BG.

The fan heater cheaper still.

Not everywhere, we are responding within 24hours round here. Same day if the customer rings early enough.

white plastic pipe out of the loft?

is your boiler in the loft?

the condensate drain from the boiler surely wouldn't be higher than the bottom of the boiler unless it's pumped?

if your condensate is / was blocked then it could have backed up into the heat exchanger?
