vaillant ecotec 831 co2 adjust

hello everyone

can anyone explain this, Iv been reading the manufacture book of how to adjust the co2 on the gas valve I know how to do it but i dont know what exactly am adjusting ie; are you adjusting how much gas enters the burner or are you adjusting the air in take?????

I am gas safe registerd but would like to no the ins an outs of a ducks arse! ;)
