morning chaps. and chapesses.

I'v got one of these boilers. There's water coming from the around the grommet, on the underside, where the electric cable goes in.

I'm absolutely sure it's not coming from any of the external pipes.

So to find out what's leaking I'll need to get in. Can I take the front panel off easily enough? Just to have a look, I don't intend to try and fix anything myself.

It's not under warranty anymore.

Just that Vaillant has a fixed price of £260 to fix anything, except HE and PV. Which is a pricing model I don't like. I'd rather know what's wrong, and pay somebody to fix what's wrong. Which doesn't seem to complicated to me.

Cheers, Mike

Unfortunately on this model you need to be a competent person, as defined by the HSE, to remove the front cover, which under most circumstances will mean being Gas Safe registered. This is because it forms part of the combustion chamber and its correct removal and replacement are vital to the safety of the occupants.

Oh dear. I've already done it, as per installation/service manual.

The bottom screw, as described in the installation manual, was missing. Despite last being serviced by Vaillant, whose engineers are 'competent persons'. Maybe I'll sue them for not putting the screw back in.

Thanks for your help.

Of course you don't. Jog on

You got me there. Still, just replaced the heat exchanger, pressure vessel and diverter valve no problem. All seems to work OK now and the leak's stopped, so jobs a good 'un.

Bloody hell, would have been cheaper with a fixed price repair from the manufacturer if it realty needed all those parts changed

I have a feeling mikey was joking. I hope. Because if he isn't he's a prize idiot
