Looking for a smarter way to manage your heating this winter? We’ve been testing the new Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 to see how quiet, accurate and easy it is to use around the home. Click here read our review.
Which will have a relay contact or ( most unlikely ) a solid state switch to complete a circuit when there is a need for the boiler to do something.
EDIT or maybe they have a serial data link to a data port on the boiler to provide for more control functions than just the simple boiler on / boiler off that a single relay contact can provide. That would seem a bit over the top for a domestic heating system.
Hello everyone,
I'm wondering on updates to this post as the last comment was nearly 10 years ago. What has changed since then.
My standard thermostat for Vaillant ecotec plus 835 has packed up. It was a bacis Drayton.
I have read that the 835 supports modulation and want to utilise it. Vailant have their own SMART thremostats, but was looking for something that I cold then move to anither boiler if I change it out in future.
I know to get it to accept Opentherm I will need a 3rd party board, but the boilder it 8 years old so warranty it out of date anyway.
It would be good to have
1: Weather based heating detection (with an external sensor).
2: Modulation
3: Ability to turn on/off from my phone.
Don't want geofencing or anything with monthly costs.
