Vaillant Ecotec S.07 code

Upload a picture of the gubbins in your airing cupboard or where the pump is.

A bypass links the flow and return pipe. Should be set to be open only when all the rads are off and/or the motorised valves have shut.

Ok here the pics. So tonight i switched on. Went on for about 5 mins and pipes on either side of pump went mega hot. After a few mins, the pipes cooled right down, image on boiler still had burner flame but was not heating, then went into S7.

So, i then turned the valves on either side of the pump to one side, at first i tightened both and boiler came up with blocked error S98.

After i realised i turned right off, i rotated the other way to turn on fully. I now only get error S53 with the ignition flame on but no heating whatsoever. Will try again tomorrow to see if S7 comes back

forgot to say, pump is set to 3rd fastest setting.

I took out the screw in the middle and water came out that was warm.

testing with a screwdriver, the pump was rotating.

Is the magnaleak fully open ? and if it is have you checked to see if it needs cleaning ?

Would be nice to block out the installers details on thej sticker.

Is that a 15-60 or 15-50 pump?

The bypass is the valve with the little red cap next to the two silver boxes.

Unscrew the red cap and see what number the brass cap is set to.

If it is set to anything lower than 3 it would be worth cranking it down a bit more.

Am I right in saying the pump below the vent and no sign of the feed will be affecting the system?

Schoolboy error. Reposted taking out plumber details.

I took off the red lid and it is a brass cap tigtened to its full. Should this be fully tightened?

Its got no numbers on it from what i can see

That's not good.

The 4 series doesn't like dirty systems (so I have been told - in fairness I wouldn't fit one).

Seeing as you have the installers details, I would be giving them a call and mentioning warranties, water quality etc., etc.,

What was the bypass situation?

Not only that, the header tank in the loft was filthy. I literally had to scrub the gunge from the bottom of the tank which was pretty thick.

It is also currently out of warranty as only includes 2 yr warrany as installed in 2010. was serviced in May though mind. I spoke to them and they insisted no issues when they checked.

Sorry what do you mean by bypass situation?

That's not good either.

Are we sure the hot water isn't coming from the immersion heater?

A 15-50 on a 418 should be OK (sorry only just had a chance to check the boiler destructions this evening).

a 15-60 would be better, but i think you have more fundamental problems.

what would you recommend at this stage?

Get another plumber in to clean the whole system again or just fit a new boiler? I could try cleaning the basic things again myself. Anything else is above the call of duty. :) Unless you would like to pop over ;)
