Vaillant Flue terminal - How to remove it?

I've got a black flue terminal I want to fit onto my flue, the flue isn't installed but I can't find how to remove the terminal off the inner tube of the flue.
Any tips?

Theres a plastic lug holding it on at 12 o'clock

Yeah I found that, do you just poke a screwdriver down the slot on the front to try and push the lug out a bit?

Yep, I do, carefully, twisting it at the same time.

Often fitting the new black terminal is harder
