Hi, I have a working Vaillant timer that happily switches the boiler off and on once a day. However, the display part is broken so I can't see the settings etc and therefore can't change them. I bought a replacement and plonked it in (it's a very simple procedure) but the replacement caused the boiler to be permanently firing, regardless of whether I set the switch to off or on or auto....so I assumed it was faulty and replaced the replacement. The same thing happened.

The boiler has been serviced fairly recently. It appears to be a simple swap job (simply unplug one and plug in new one) and I didn't really want to have to fork out for some-one to come in and do it. Does any one have any ideas ? When I pop the old one back in everything works fine.

cheers

Stupidly forgot to add model details, thanks Kev.

It's a Vaillant TurboMAx VUW 242 E . The digital timer is model number 253223.

cheers,
Gary
