vaillant turbo plus 828e

I have a boiler vaillant turbo plus 828e which has two green knobs on the front. The knobs were pulled off with pliers by a cowboy boiler firm and now the knobs won't fit back into their grooves. In fact the spindle won't sit properly how it should have been at the beginning. Its just totally loose.

What do I have to do or buy to fix this problem?

the spindles might have snapped at the ends. you can buy the knobs seperatly, just got to a local heating spares shop.
