Ive recently changed my old turbo max to a new eco tec 838 also with the vrc 470f weather comp, i have good rf for controller 9 , and 8 for the outside sensor but is it notmal for the controller to read the ext temp sometimes 2-3 deg higher than it is ? This affects the flow temp which then leaves the house cold ,the wifes moaning !! , i have the sensor fitted at front of the house not affected by sunlight , and also heat curve ! Ive read it should be 2-2.5 is this the norm ?

I'd expect the 470 to be accurate to within a degree or so. How are you measuring the outside temperature to determine the difference?

The heat curve value should be set so that the property warms up in a reasonable time, and of course so that the boiler can keep it at the required temperature. The lower the value the slower the heat up and the lower the gas bill. 2.0 is a good starting point, but see if you can get it below that. The system will learn to an extent, so its not a question of change value and get instant results, but change value and see if its better or worse in a week's time.

If you've changed the boiler, but not the radiators, then the existing radiators may be sized for higher flow temperatures, which means you'll need a higher heat curve value.

It takes a while to get it right, but worth it in the end.

Thanks for the reply , i have got away with 1.6 heat curve so far , i dont feel the cold but the wife does ! But before it was just my old turbo max chucking out constant 80dg or something ! Ive tried explaining the whole lower flow rates to her ..but rads arent as hot she feels its not working !! My property is around 1970 build semi ,double glazed , cavity ball insulation , light loft insulation plenty if rads mostly doubles or p+.. i was only going by car temp readers , on my drive , all three are say reading 13 but my prog reads 16-17.5
