Valley tiles v Cut valley

In order to get our dormer to fit we have had to reduce the dormer roof pitch from 45deg to 37deg).

The roofer is proposing a cut valley (as valley tiles won’t now work). I am expecting a cost variation for this; not sure how much would be expected.

What are the additional costs (labour & materials) for a cut valley?

The dormers are quite small, we are using standard rosemary tiles.

dont buy the valley tiles and there will be little difference in costs.. unless you use lead in the valleys

Thanks. They have suggested lead. What would be used instead of lead.

Is this more labour intensive (and therefore expensive) than valley tiles?

GRP is quicker to fit than lead and obviously cheaper. You will only need a small bit of lead at the bottoms and a lead saddle at the top of the valleys.

Not the DRY valleys, no. It can be fiddle at the bottom (fascia) whereby you need a lead soaker. No biggie.

No. You would probably need to cut your plains into each side of the valley tiles in any case. Plus you have the freedom of gauging up each side independently (with a dry valley) should you need to.​
