Any advise in this would be great thanks....My late parents house has been empty for 2 years.... now I intend to let it out ....electric gas and water been off for 2 years ...boiler in bed room .... just noticed a drip of water from bottom of boiler so removed front to see whats wrong to my horror found bottom of boiler full of water and all rusted after mopping water out and close inspection found that rain water is entering via flue electric panel at front is ok bottom of boiler shell is all rusted but i think i can clean this and paint it but do you think the water my have caused internal damage or should i give it a go to repair or buy new boiler ..any advise please .javascript:emoticon(':?:')
 
What you seem to have overlooked is that before letting out you need a gas safety Certificate! So you need to take the advice of an RGI.

You also need an electrical Certificate and an EPC as well.

Also to advise the home insurance company that its to be let!

Yes thanks I know I need the certificates you mentioned and to inform my insurance and change to landlords policy ...all I was after was some advice on the boiler before I have a plummer in who i know would say new boiler..... any way thanks for you input ...
 
well don't get the plumber who you know will say new boiler then get a good one for proper advice, in fact get a dedicated gas engineer who realises that fixing makes more money than replacing!
