Hi,

I'm one of the newbie type people and trying to find out what these valves (see pic below, it is closed off with a threaded cap) are used for on my radiators. I'm in a 2 bed semi and they are on most rads in the house. I'm looking to drain my system and wondering if these are designed to help me?

Thanks in advance

it is a drain for that individual radiator

BUT the trv head is unlikely to stop the flow of water completely from the system you should have another cap that locks on where the trv is instead of it to stop the flow completely and don't forget to turn of the lockshield valve on the other end of the rad.

Thanks for the swift reply.

So if I take the cap off this valve on the lowest rad in the system, it will drain the complete system? Are there any suggestions for fittings I could get so I could add a hose on to the end of this? Someone has just mentioned it looks like a Microbore style fitting? Is this correct?

Thanks again
