Hi Guys,

I will be insulating a garage wall.

It is a brick wall, I will screw 2"x 2" studs to the wall and then will attach Cellotex and the plasterboards to those studs. See picture.

Do I need a vapor control layer in this situation? Maybe between the plasterboard and Cellotex?

Thanks

You would tape all the Celotex joints and across the timber to act as a vapour check.

A vDPM up the back of the masonry would normally be required.

...like this..
You'll see in the image that a DPM has been trapped against the wall and is lapped onto the ceiling (and floor). There is a layer of Celotex trapped against the wall and another was fitted between the uprights and taped. Foil back boards were fitted too.

Thanks guys,

The brick wall is a cavity wall with a ruberoid membrane in the cavity, do I still need an additional membrane between PIR and brick?

Thanks
