I've just made 2 bathroom wall cabinets from mdf and painted them white with Farrow and Ball Estate eggshell water based paint. They look fine but I'm wondering if i should apply a varnish or some other type of clear finish to give them a hard scratch resistant finish, and if so, which type?

Hopefully they will never get too wet or damp as the mdf will swell.

you could varnish with any oil or water based varnish over the paint but it will be an added expense and may change the colour slightly. You mab be better off re coating with the FB paint if you still have it and keep for touch ups.

If in doubt contact FB technical amd ask them
