I have painted pine table, chairs and dresser with 123 and then painted (2 coats) with acrylic eggshell matt paint (valspar). I feel it needs to be protected by something as there are already a couple of chips in it. Could someone advise as to the best type of finish to apply i.e. a polyurethane or varnish finish? Will an oil based substance stick to the acrylic paint or does it need to be a water based finish. Also can it be a satin finish as the matt finish of the paint feels very chalky?
