vauxhall vectra repairs

i have a vauxhall vectra and shes the best well to me she is, im having a few problems with her, we a drivers door that wont open from inside a friend who is a mechanic had a look, but its a fiddly job and advised us it might be easier to replace the whole door as we also have a faulty window, now my question is what about the central locking system as i use this a lot especially as i carry a 2half year old and a 3 year old around,

and are there common faults with vectras

I think the first thing that needs changing is your mechanic, the door needs stripping to investigate, could be something quite simple, and maybe a wiring problem for the window
