blower works but heater barely working. blows cold. non aircon petrol engine. theres plenty of water in header tank. inside dash temp stays around 85 degrees. both hoses from matrix ends in the engine bay are both warm. it used to be a really efficient heater.

Your car may only need a new thermostat, if the engine won't stay as hot as before. The thermostat keeps the engine at around 90 deg C, which makes it efficient as well as keeping you cosy!
Hopefully the heater matrix isn't starting to block up - this is a much more difficult repair!
