Velux transverse drainage gutter

Hi,

I am having a couple of Velux Veluxs fitted, the roofer is not using the 'transverse drainage gutter' as he said its for counter battern roofs only. Ours has horizontal batterns only on the rafters.

Whilst i agree cutting the felt for the gutter does seem odd, but any thoughts?
