Ventilation gap roof insulation

Hi - new to this forum.

I have an old Victorian cottage and am insulating loft plus will put down boards to provide storage area.

I have read many of the posts here - should have before embarking on my project!

In the summer I picked Thermawrap from B&Q as it was heavily discounted - and have attached with staples to sanking boards of roof. Do I need an ventilation gap?

A quick Google on Thermawrap lead to this link www.thermawrap.co.uk/loft_wrap_inst.html which says:

Installation

• Check the area you are insulating and make any needed repairs before installing Loft Wrap.
• Unroll the Loft Wrap as you work, and cut it to suitable lengths with scissors or utility knife.
• Staple the Loft Wrap to the undersides of exposed rafters or between the rafters, ensuring a ventilation gap of at least 50mm above the Loft Wrap.
• Tape the joints of the loft wrap to give a vapour seal and increase the thermal value of the Loft Wrap.
• If you wish to board out the roof please ensure a gap of 25mm to the underside of the Loft Wrap before boarding.
I'd go with that.
