Im fitting a cookerhood , one that goes to ceiling and can vent externally.

The vent pipe that im thinking of using is rigid plastic with one bend.

The hood will be just below loft space and my ventilation options are

Vent via a soffit (but with air flow it might draw hot air back into loft via soffit vent)

Vent via external wall ( drilling through the breeze block and external rendering might b tricky. Then getting up to it , haven't got hammer dril (yet)l or core cutter)

Vent via roof ( getting up on roof and making it leak proof )

Vent via air brick ( knocking air brick out)

Vent via toilet stack ( can this be done , probably the easiest)

Also can I connect toilet fan to and pipe but using backdraft filters.

Certainly more of a faff but worth it in the long run.....
Go straight through your external wall.

Thanks for replying john.

I think this can be done with just using a hammer drill and brick drill bit. Drill lots of small holes in a circle then use a bolster

I was going to get a vent kit with flexible pipe but think ridged would be better as it won't collect condensation

It can be done that way, but its one hell of a lot easier with a core drill (hire one with a clutch, of course.)
If I remember, the recommended size is 117 mm but its worth asking about that.
John :)
