Veritas Alarm

Problem with my Veritas Alarm, model R8. keypad is stuck. it shows green unset light and zone 1 (exit zone) is red and all buttons are unresponsive. Checked all exit zone switches (all magnetic) and they are OK. battery is also OK, removed it overnight and it was 12v next morning.
any ideas greatly appreciated.

Need to know the exact sequence of Events and a picture would be helpful.

how did you test the zones were okay with no keypad response?

Testing a battery for voltage alone is not the correct way to verify the condition of the battery.

If zone one was active then it would display, but the keypad would not be unresponsive.

Unresponsive could be the T and R connections are not connected both ends properly, or there is a short on them, unlikely to be the case if the cables have been untouched.

cant remember if the Veritas keypad would show its address if its not communicating, but this can be checked easily by changing the address by flicking the dip switch 2 into the opposite position and see if the keypad zone1 changes to zone 2.

some of these may seem trival questions but being open and honest will help get your problem resolved quicker, so if between the panel working and not working you have done anything, this might help identify where to start looking.
