Hi

Just recently fitted a Veritas Excel
with 4xpir
1x pa
1x door contact.

When doing a walk test, Automatically zones 2,7,8 are lit up.

Zone 1 is door contact
zone 3,4,5 are pir's
Also my PA button is not working.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Also one Pir is not working when doing a walk test however the led does light up not sure what zone that is but can confirm its not 3,4,5

And i have not wired up anything on zone 7 and 8 on the control panel

Thanks in advance for any help :)

For a start, you need to put a small loop of wire between the two terminals on zone 7 and the two terminals on zone 8 to clear them.

By process of elimination, I'd say the PIR you're having problems with is on Zone 2. It seems as if it's permanently open circuit, which means either:

You've wired it wrong
You've got a cable fault
The panel zone or PIR itself is at fault

Try temporarily linking the zone out in the panel and going back into the walk test. Does it clear? If so, check and double check your wiring. A multimeter will be an invaluable tool here.

As for the PA, does it work in the walk test? (ie, does the correct zone LED light up when you press it?) If so, it probably just needs programming as Panic. If not, as above, double check your connections.

Take everything out of the zones.

Add one by one, testing each time.

It will be quicker than guessing.

Oh and it sounds like zone 2 is the HUd/PA and open circuit.

Thanks will update on the results tomorrow

Also the PA doesn't show up on walk test so will recheck.

This morning i put a link between zone 7,8

This cleared that fault.

I checked the PA with a voltmeter and theirs no continuity between the red and black wire when pressing the button. Also tried joining the red and black wire together on the PA side to simulate a button press and still nothing so i will be changing the wire.

For the pir still cant get it to register on the walk test.
That was on zone 6, Tried moving it to zone 7 and placing a link on zone 6.

Still nothing, Also rechecked the connections and its all fine.

Not sure what the problem is?
As when doing a continuity test on the red and black wire for zone 7 on the control panel theirs resistance which means its connected fine?

Can anyone help,

Thanks

When the button is not pressed there will be a circuit, when pressed it goes open circuit.

Is there power to the detector?

You did remove the cables from the panel doing this?

Run a new line to PA.
Continuity is ok.

However still not showing on walk test?

In the process now of rewiring the pir.
Will update soon

Just an update,

Had to run two new cables to pir and pa.

Now sorted.

Now just need to setup the dialer.

Theres a problem with the screen though, Its slightly tilted and the top line has a small line going across it.

Should i send it back?

Cant get the alarm to set!

When pressing full.

Its just beeps and shows the zones were the pir is detecting movement.

Have you got power to the PIR`s?
Are the fuses intact.

How did you check when you said "Everything sorted" looking isnt a test.

Yes all PIR's have power
Fuses are fine

Checked by doing a walk test and it picked up on every sensor so i thought it was ok.
