i have a vailliant turbo max vuw 242e that is driving me insane,
it will fire up give me hot water for about 20 seconds then every thing goes off , eny help would be appreceated

Is this the model with black front and green knobs?

We have a customer with one that did the same thing and it (hopefully)turned out to be the flame sensing electrode.

What are the lights doing on the front of the boiler when it goies out?

yes it is the lights go out 1 by, 1 from the top down

Does the hot water demand light stay on?

What is the temperature guage reading?

Should the demand light be going out to, drop the control panel down the diverter valve is on the right. Can you see the small white plastic paddle on the right side of the diverter? It operates a green microswtich. If this paddle is not making positive contact then the boiler thinks there is no demand. A sympton of a torn diaphram/clogged mechanism.

If the temperature guage is getting too high, then see other posts about clogged heat exchanger.
