As I am on a water meter supply I have arranged to fill the toilet cistern from rainwater. However, when filling the pipes vibrate and cause a humming noise. I have heard that there is a damper that can fit in the pipework to prevent this. Anyone out there know of this or anything else that might help? TIA

try a water hammer arrestor. It's like a mini expansion vessel which accomodates excessive pressure fluctations etc
