Please can you help? Potterton Suprima50 approx 5 years old.

When the boiler fires up after about 10s a vibration starts and lasts for about 10seconds. The vibration starts quiet and gets louder then stops. It can be heard in all rooms of the house and within the actual boiler itself. By touching the pipes the vibration can be felt. This repeats every time the boiler fires up again.

I've checked all the rads and therm' valves but all seem to be ok. The rads & water all heats up.

Any help/ideas much appreciated.

Sounds like its 'kettling' - look at FAQs - boiler kettling

Thanks for your reply. I've checked out the FAQs.

Over the last couple of days this vibration has become very minor and hardly noticeable now.

Being a sparky and not a plumber I know very little when it comes to heat exchangers in boilers etc but I assume we are talking a boiler replacement here if it is the heat exchanger that is at fault?

The boiler is actually covered under one of these protection plans ( parts & labour) so it may be worth going down this route.

Boiler replacement = last resort

A new pump would be much cheaper

with info given i'd try that first
