fisrt post so sorry if its covered elsewhere,

Simple task today of replacing cloakroom basin taps ( no seperate feed tap to these pipes either ) (just to gauge my skill level's last time i balanced the radiators i flooded the house).

Have turned of the mains tap in the kitchen and opened up all the taps to empty the system.

After over an hour the kitchen cold tap and downstairs hot and cold have not stopped running.

The upstairs bathroom sink taps have, but still getting the occasional spurt from the upstairs bath.

Dodgy stop cock or am i missing another one somewhere?
Or should i dig through the mud and turn it off at the mains outside ?
How long should it take to drain a normal size house ?

It should drain within five minutes unless you have a storage tank which can take about 20 minutes.

Turning off outside is the best way!

You have probably turned off a valve which only controld the kitchen taps.

thanks for the reply,

wallowing in the mud time, although when the house flooded turning the one under the kitchen sink off did stop the feed and drained the house after all the taps where left open

Easier to give up, mate.
Buy a can or two of freezer and put isolating valves on the pipes.
Advantage is that you know it's frozen cos there's a tap to try it at.
