Hi,

Looked at a few LVT options with a view to doing my hallway.

It's about 5 SQm and baulked at the price for it, along with the fact we'd go through to the kitchen.

I'm thinking of some short term options for 2-3 years while we save up for kitchen work.

We want a stone effect type laminate at about 10-15 quid a square meter.

So, key questions;

  • Is this easily DIY'able without a screed base?
  • Am i naive spending this much for a hallway for that period?
  • I've got laminate at the moment could i reuse the underlay?
  • What would be the best options for cutting etc?

Thanks in advance.

A) Yes if the floor is fairly level although under cutting the architraves for expansion gaps is trick and time consuming.
B) No
C) Yes
D) Jigsaw and a Standard Saw or Table Saw.

You'll need beading or to remove skirtings, fit floor, fit skirting. You'll likely need new door profiles.

Hi,

All of the above was my conclusion as well, click stuff certainly isn't cheap either!

So i've gone for a laminate sheet option for a couple of years. (Novilon).
