Hi,
Went to quote for refurb' of mens and ladies toilets in a local small factory. Both toilets wanted replacement of all pottery (one urinal & one WC), water heater and hand dryer but as part of the deal, i have to take on the floor covering. The guy i am dealing with wants a type of vinyl floor with a 'rough' surface that goes about 100mm up the wall with a radius in the bottom corner. Anybody got any suggestions as to what this is and how it is layed?

Many thanks in advance,

Gary.

This is known as safety flooring - the popular ones being Polysafe (from Polyflor) and Altro flooring.

The floor, usually, will need to be screeded prior to installation.

It is a sheet material normally 2 metres wide so if the area to be covered is wider than this then seams need to be welded.

Taking the flooring up the walls is called coving - or capping and coving depending on the installation and really is best left to a professional installer. They will have the specialist equipment required as well as having been trained on this type of work.

without sounding rude!

Well you have no chance of fitting cape and cove without experience/trainning. The welding is an art in its self.

I would ship the job of the flooring out to a pro.
