Hi All,

After new flooring for my bathroom. I've levelled out the old floorboards and used ply sheets, I think about 5mm(ish) nailed at 150 centres with ring nails.

HOWEVER theres still a bit of variance in the levels over the total area.

Are the tiles fairly tolerant of small discrepancies?

I've never had or fitted vinyl before but thought vinyl tiles might give a bit more resistance to showing nail heads/joints etc than sheet. Is this the case or are they just smaller pieces of the vinyl sheet?

Also, do I need to prime the plywood with anything before fitting either?

Any advice appreciated.

Mike

What do you mean by "variance"

Do you mean it is smooth but not level?

or do you mean there are noticeable lumps and bumps

was the ply in one piece or several, if several.....

Is the "variance" where the ply sheets join?

....if so that is usually because you joined the ply on a floorboard joint

The floor is smooth (no lumps or bumps) but is slightly out of level from one end to the other. From memory 3 boards and the joints are tight and smooth with no ridges/steps...

so fit your floor then ;)

out of level puts you in exactly the same position as 99% of us!

....out of level but smooth = :D

.....lumps and bumps =
