Hi just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to fix a problem. Just moving into new house and it has vokera combi boiler. Heating all working fine and hot water is hot. We have an external metal pipe (which i would guess is overflow of some kind) and when we open the valve to allow water into the boiler there is water pouring like a tap from the external pipe. There is an adjustable stop cock beside the water valve on the boiler system which when turned reduces the water coming out the pipe but also the water coming out the tap. It's almost as if the boiler just keeps on filling up with water as if it doesn't know it's full. i.e if your toilet just kept on filling up after flushing it would overflow. It's like the boiler doesn't recognise it's full and just keeps on taking water in hence it is pouring out the external pipe. Sorry this is not a very technical description!! Just wondering if anyone has any ideas if there is something we are not turning on etc that would resolve this. Any advice welcomed as no instructions for boiler in the property. Thanks

what valve, exactly, are you opening to let water into your boiler? If it's the fillig loop, which connects the cold main to the radiator circuit, dont touch it, what pressure is showing on the gauge?
I would suspect you need to call someone as, going by your descriptions, you have little knowledge/experience of boilers.

your boiler has a spring loaded valve called a Pressure Releif valve (PRV) this is designed to release excess pressure within the boiler to outside, it sounds like the previous owners have jammed this open to drain the boiler before leaving the house empty, either that or it has become faulty, you should get someone in shouldnt be an expensive repair

if the valve is not turned on then there is no water in the boiler, it's a black valve, yellow valve supplies the oil to the boiler. if valve not turned then no water at all in boiler as nothing comes out when taps turned off. Just wondered if anyone on here knew anything obvious that we weren't doing.
