We have inherited a Vokera Compact 24 combination boiler, unfortunately living up to the quality brand that it is (and not being in a position to replace currently) it has failed.

What happens - Turn the boiler on - green light, turn either the hot water tap or central heating on the boiler will fire up for around 7 seconds then turns itself off and the light changes from green to red.

I telephoned the ever helpful people at Vokera who informed me that in the first instance he believed it was a Ignition PCB (part 10028890) and I should replace this with the spark electrode (part 10025985).

However, when I telephoned again today to confirm today I was given differing information, however he was completely unhelpful today.

So my question is if the information I was provided in the first instance is accurate and if it would be those two items to replace?

Thanks for any help

unfortunately the site rules prohibit us from discussing anything about combustion on here, if it is the very common problem I think it is you wouldnt need either part, a decent RGI with experience of this boiler could sort it without any parts , really sorry i cant tell you more

Are you suggesting it is a gas pressure problem?

Recently some gas works took place outside with replacement of the mains, would this have effected the running?

That is not the fault I was thinking of but its a possibility if it started right after the external gas works how long ago were the gas works carried out and do you know what they were ?

Its always sensible to have your boiler serviced regularly during the summer.

Then you will know an engineer to call during the winter if there is any problem.

You seem to imagine that all you do is to telephone Vokera or post on a forum and we can tell you what part to replace.

Quite apart from the fact that combustion faults need a gas registered engineer with the appropriate equipment to test and adjust it, to identify faults its necessary to be at the boiler to do tests.
