Hey all,

Apologies for what is no doubt going to be a vague post but I'll try be as specific and informative as possible.

For a short while - couple of months - our boiler (model above) has been loosing pressure at a relatively alarming rate.
One day we'll need to re-pressurise it once. The next five times. The next three times. What I'm basically saying is it's a strange, strange non-steady loss of pressure which I'm non-the-wiser to. We KNOW there's a small leak at one of the radiators but we're literally talking a drip a day. We also know it's loosing pressure through a very small leak at the valve we use to pressurise it (sorry, not up with the plumbing jargon!) but again, very small. Not enough for it to go from 1.5bar to just above 0 within an hour, or certainly not from what I would have thought!

Now we were quite happy living with these small and inconveniences until today - when the boiler lost pressure and obviously cut off as usual. What's different this time round is that the boiler itself won't turn back on now. There's a flashing green light indicating it's in standby mode but when we repressurise the system it simply does nothing. On the very ODD occassion (once every 10-15 attempts to re-ignite it) the green light will go from flashing every couple of seconds to roughly 1 second of very quick flashing. It's always green however, no red.

So - again apologies for the vagueness - does anyone have any clues? I'm happy to take photos and videos of anything related to this that anyone needs to see to give me a bit of an insight in to what it could be that's causing it not to ignite. We will be addressing the leaks very, very soon however we need it to ignite for obvious reasons. We can use the electric immersion for water but have no heating right now.

Thanks in advance!
Pete

Just thought this MAY help someone in diagnosis of the fault and to maybe help point out a few areas on the boiler (photos attached)

Also, I took a small video to show what happens (or rather, doesn't) when I click it on/off etc). This video was taken with the fuse IN the boiler of course.

Cheers again,
Pete

Hey,

Can you point me in the direction as to what or where this is on the unit?

Cheers for the prompt reply,
Pete

Sorry just to clarify, I meant rather the knob spindle connected to the on/of switch or is there another form of knob spindle elsewhere on the unit I should be looking for?

Cheers

Sorry for the bump guys, but woke up to a very very cold house. Not ideal with a couple of younger people in the house. Thankfully I've managed to locate two electric oil heaters so have placed them as strategically throughout the house as possible to spread some heat round but thats of course a very temporary measure (hopefully a VERY temporary measure!)

Thanks in advance,

Okay so an update ;

I left the boilter in the off position for a little while (from waking up around 7am till now, around 10am).
Went back into the loft, repressurised and thought I'll chance my luck. Turned back on, immediately.

Now I'm gonna keep an eye on it once every hour or so to try keep the pressure in it to stop it from dying again for now, but this just adds (to me anyway) a bit more confusion as to what's actually going on?!

Before i scream and admit defeat has anyone got any thoughts re the below problem i have been out to and failed miserably in curing.
Its a Vokera Compact 29he boiler, initial problem was boiler not working.
I got the boiler working and all seemed well, hot water that was consistent with the burner modulating up and down re demand.
Heating coming on and off with the specified 3 - 4 min delay between activity.
Suddenly the red lock out light comes on at random times even when there is no demand.
I have checked the sensors, removed the fan and cleaned the venturi.
It does not make sense, some times the heating comes on for a few minutes, then 20 - 30 seconds before it goes to the flashing green light, it has never actually locked out for me.
The other weird thing i have noticed it that where the condensate drain alloy tube joins the secondary heat exchanger on the top right it was blocked solid, i have cleaned this. The boiler does not seem to produce condensation but according to Vokera i shouldnt worry.
Am i missing something obvious, any idea's would be appreciated. I have read all the similar threads but never actually seen a post giving the solution.
Vokera suggest the pcb, but they would at £200 plus
Thanks
