I have a 2003 2 litre golf petrol,
The mileage is 67k so I think due a timing belt change, it is the 8valve/115bhp engine.
what kind of a job is it, any special tools needed, (I have done belts before,....transits, peugeots thats all).
Thanks.

If you've done other belts then there won't be a problem with this one.....clear marks on the crank and cam pulleys, 4 bolts for the bottom aux. belt pulley.
The tensioner is turned with a 2 pronged device but you dont always need this. You may want to replace the tensioner and water pump - thats up to you.
As per normal the offside engine mount has to come off, so look for truth marks in the dirt to get it back into the same position afterwards.
John :)

Seasons greetings to everyone

Yes John, might be best to do the tensioner and water pump. Some of those pumps leave the impeller behind and the shaft is just turning doing no work.
Mighty hard to find why shes overheating.

Haynes manual if you can get one might be a good read. Or try Google.
But straight forward a piece of timber and a small jack and you can lift the engine mount off.
