Hi I have a 2006 VW Passat 1.9tdi, the rear left hand side shock needs replacement. Is this a major job and what type of money would I be looking at to replace it?

Have a look at the shock mountings - top and bottom.
Are the nuts fairly easy to get at, and once they are undone, would it be easy enough to slide the shock out or is there something in the way?
Rear shocks are usually fairly painless so look for a price from Eurocarparts and add 1/2 hour per side labour.
One thing - due to the exposed position of these things, I use a full hexagon socket and a large breaker bar to release them.
