Basically my VW Polo 1.2 is throwing up a fault code saying there is a camshaft sensor problem, we have replaced the camshaft sensor with a genuine VW part.

My car won't go above 3000 revs, when car is slowing down it loses power and switches off. It drives perfectly fine until it hits the 3000 revs mark!

We don't know what else to try and where to start.

Any suggestions?

I'd hazard a guess and say that the timing chain is worn, and the camshaft and crankshaft sensors are now out of phase......not the news anyone really wants to hear but a VW dealer or a good diagnostics garage should be able to scan the engine for you.
John :)
