The only thing I can think is that it's a combination of being one of the wider variants and being left for an extended period of time in the 'open' position. It was not otherwise abused in any way:

Does it look the wrong colour for a Wago because it is the wrong colour, or because of a camera artefact?

Hmm... Not sure. I only ever get these from TLC: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/WA415.html. It was natural light, no flash on a Pixel 2. I know the Pixel does a ridiculous amount of futzing about with the image before it saves it so who knows?

If you bought it from them then it will be genuine.

Contact Wago - they are a very responsive company. You could well end up with a better than 1:1 replacement, particularly if they want you to send it to them for investigation.
