Wall Lights

Hi hope someone can help.

We had our house rewired when we moved in 2 years ago and only recently have bought some wall lights for our hallway!

At the weekend we fixed one wall light downstairs without any problems, but when we came to put one upstairs we noticed that coming from the wall there are THREE separate wires.

We have a double switch upstairs and a double switch downstairs, therefore we can turn either light off from downstairs or upstairs.

unfortuantely, we cannot get in contact with our Electrician and have no idea why he has put three wires upstairs? Can someone help!!

connect one light to one cable and see what happens.

you do not mention being in darkness for 2 years, so i take it this is an addition light that you are only just now fitting?

Could it be three plate connections?
