Wall painting preperation

The house I bought 2 years ago was painted through with white emulsion prior to going on the market.

What prep work should I do to the bathroom walls before using mid sheen emulsion?

I tend to use Johnstones brand paint.

At a minimum, wash the walls with sugar soap. Bathroom walls can be subject to a build up of (micro) soap deposits from showering.

Personally, I run a random orbital sander (connected to a dust extractor) before repainting but if the walls are good condition, you don't need to do that.
