Wall preparation before tiling

Hi folks,
A friend has asked me to tile part of his bathroom.
The walls are currently painted with matt emulsion on plaster.
The paint appears adherent, not flaking.

I am unsure whether I should use a paint stripper to try and remove all paint in the areas to be tiled (something I don't particularly want to do), or whether I can get away with just lightly sanding it prior to tiling.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

if the wall is ok and not flaking you will not need to sand it, just tile it.
