Wall removal steel beam support wall

Hi, I just had removed internal bearing wall and installed steel beam. Just I'm not sure if brick wall will be strong enough to hold it because beam sitting on one brick pile which 20cm deap. I have attached pictures how much of brick wall I have. Do I need to enforcement for that wall or it's fine.

That should be fine, most steels require a minimum 150mm bearing, you've got another 50mm on that so nothing to worry about.

I didn't get one. Builder who took down the wall told me I don't need. He told me it's fine like that. But I'm not sure if that small part of brick are stable enough to hold or it's have to be fully removed brick wall and instead install steel support.

you need structural calculations and building regs to do that

how do you know the wall isnt supporting the roof or providing lateral stability for the house?

what is the wall bearing on at the bottom

all those questions require a S/E to decide

its really not, when you come to sell you will have a non compliant structural element...............it will get picked up

what is the other side of the wall?

I mean how wide is the actual wall its sitting on?

if you are meaning its effectively a 200mm wide free standing wall, then no thats no good

There's no calcs, no SE, no Building Control but it's OK because you can always ask the internet.

Is there a building control officer involved either from the council or a private one?

If there isn't then everything needs to stop now and get one involved.

Some bco's will accept standard size lintels and steels for normal situations but they make that decision.

Can you take a photo from the other side of the opening as that nib is probably part of a wall rather than just a 200mm column on its own.

I'm not builder and I don't know how it's works. Builder who came I had to trust him because I believe he working with that and he should know better than me.
Yea the wall it's just 200 mm wide and behind doesn't have anything.
That means I need call structural engineer and rebuild that wall?

The responsibility for building control is with the home owner, your builder hasn't told the truth.

You will need to contact your local council building control officer and tell them what's happened and they'll tell you how to proceed.

Taking more photos of both sides of the rooms will help us see what is going on better.

The builders work may well be up to standard and the bco could pass it but it's difficult to tell from 1 picture

Do you know the height of the padstone? Looks like it's been packed top and bottom with mortar

From another side it's have wall builded 45° angle

but it's just timber and plaster board wall I have marked in red. Picture was taken before steel beam was installed.
Do you know how that single brick column can be enforced in this case?

It's not uncommon for experienced builders to put in an oversized beam to save the cost and time of calcs and sensible BCOs will accept them in the same light (there are guidance charts around)

I'm seeing 1 acrow squint and others sitting on a tiled floor and only 4 used not good I fear. Is the pier new work? If so how is it bonded to existing:

You need to stop the work and get it checked by an SE and signed off by Building Control. As well as the beam, the padstones and the bearing piers, the beam itself needs to be encased in (fire) protective material.

You, as the homeowner are ultimately responsible.
